Acceptable Use Policy

Last updated: June 24, 2026

1. Overview

This Acceptable Use Policy (the “Policy”) governs your use of MailStrap, including email hosting, mailboxes, domains, and marketing campaigns. It exists to keep our network trustworthy and our deliverability strong for every customer. By using MailStrap you agree to this Policy. If you use MailStrap on behalf of an organization, you accept it for that organization, and you are responsible for everyone who sends through your account.

We may update this Policy from time to time. Material changes will be posted on this page with a new effective date. Continued use after a change means you accept the updated Policy.

2. Consent and permission

You may only send email to recipients who have a genuine relationship with you or who have asked to hear from you. Specifically:

  • Marketing and bulk email may only go to recipients who gave clear, verifiable opt-in consent.
  • You may not send to purchased, rented, scraped, or harvested lists.
  • You must keep records of how and when each recipient consented, and provide them to us on request.
  • Transactional mail (replies, receipts, notifications) must relate to a real interaction the recipient initiated or expects.

3. Prohibited content and activity

You may not use MailStrap to send, host, or facilitate any of the following:

  • Spam or unsolicited bulk email of any kind.
  • Phishing, spoofing, or any attempt to deceive recipients about who is sending the message.
  • Malware, viruses, ransomware, or links to malicious or deceptive sites.
  • Content that is illegal, fraudulent, or that infringes intellectual property or privacy rights.
  • Harassment, threats, hate speech, or content that exploits or endangers minors.
  • Falsified headers, forged sender identities, or hidden or misleading subject lines.
  • Sending on behalf of a domain you do not own or are not authorized to use.

4. Sending standards

  • Every domain you send from must be verified through the DNS records we provide before any mail is sent.
  • Marketing email must include a clear, working unsubscribe mechanism and a valid postal or contact identity.
  • You must honor unsubscribe and opt-out requests promptly. We process them automatically through suppression lists.
  • You must maintain healthy bounce and complaint rates. Excessive bounces or complaints may trigger automatic throttling or suspension.
  • You may not attempt to bypass our suppression lists, rate limits, or abuse controls.

5. Security and system integrity

  • Do not attempt to gain unauthorized access to any account, server, or network connected to MailStrap.
  • Do not probe, scan, or test the vulnerability of our systems without our written permission.
  • Do not use MailStrap to distribute open relays, open proxies, or tools designed to send anonymous bulk mail.
  • Do not consume resources in a way that degrades the service for others, including denial of service activity.

6. Your responsibility for tenants and users

MailStrap is a multi-tenant platform. If you send on behalf of your own customers or business units, you are responsible for their compliance with this Policy. Each sending tenant is isolated so that the conduct of one does not put others at risk, but you remain accountable for all activity under your account.

7. Enforcement

When we believe this Policy has been violated, we may, with or without notice, throttle sending, pause or suspend a mailbox, domain, or account, remove content, or terminate access. We will use a response that is proportionate to the issue and to the risk it poses to other customers and to deliverability. We may also report unlawful activity to the appropriate authorities.

8. Reporting abuse

If you receive spam or abusive mail sent through MailStrap, or you believe someone is violating this Policy, please tell us at abuse@mailstrap.com. We review every report and act on confirmed abuse quickly.

9. Contact

Questions about this Policy can go to legal@mailstrap.com. This Policy works alongside our Terms of Service and Privacy Policy.
